It's a Boy!

Don't read this posting if you don't want to know the gender of our kid.   Well, maybe it's too late.  The story of how we found out is funny and shows just how scary Bob and I will be as parents.  Our doctor gives us lot of sonograms, which may sound great to you, but unfortunately, I can't really see anything on the pictures anyways, so I don't know if it really matters.  We went to our full anatomy scan and the sonographer kept seeing things like, "And there's the left pinky toe, and there's the right ear lobe..." And I just nodded and smiled and hoped that I looked like I believed her.  She kept looking for the gender of the kid, but he wasn't cooperating.

    "I think we have a girl..." She'd say over and over again.  Bob was smiling from ear to ear.

    And then, suddenly, the kid stretched his legs out, and at that point, even I knew she was wrong.

    "I don't think that's a girl."  I said.   

    "No," she said.  "It's not."

    Bob will post the sonogram pictures asap.  When you see them, you'll be certain, as well.   I think Bob was slightly disappointed at first, but we've compiled a list of why having a boy is a good thing:

1.  Two racks of clothes at the store instead 25 racks.

2.  Pregnancy.  That's all we'll say.

3.  Cheaper toys (compare a matchbox car with a Barbie)

4.  Bob already has tons of boy toys.

5.  Boys come installed with sound effects.  

6.  Bob gets to deal with puberty (that one's just for me).

7.  Blue seems to show fewer stains than pink.

8.  If statistics remain constant, he'll make more money at his job than if we had a girl.  That means we have a better retirement plan now.
